Little Sosuke lives with his mother on a high cliff overlooking the sea. One day, he discovers on the pebbly beach, Ponyo, a little girl fish. Ponyo is so fascinated by Sosuke and the terrestrial world that her dearest wish is to become a human being. But Fujimoto, her magician father, disagrees with this idea and he forces her to return to the depths of the ocean. Determined to see Sosuke, Ponyo escapes from her underwater prison, but, in doing so, triggers a huge maritime disaster. An adventure begins for Sosuke and Ponyo.
